Congratulations to the successful applicants of the OPC 2012!

Congratulations to our successful applicants! Entries are closed, categories are allocated. Now the real hard work starts!

The deadline for entries passed on 31st May, and after a couple of late entrants the very enjoyable task of listening to hours and hours worth of fabulous audio recordings, began.

The artistic directors finished their assessments of the recordings on 15th June. And the result: 42 applicants have been chosen to go through to the first round.

We feel that this is a fabulous result for the very first Open Piano Competition. Ten months ago, when we first had the idea to run an international piano competition differing from the norm and with a rather unique concept, we never could have expected such an involvement of pianists from all over the world. Nationalities that will be represented at the OPC include the USA, UK, France, Italy, Mexico, Argentina, Russia, Latvia, Japan, China and Turkey to name but a few. A snapshot of our successful round one competitors can be viewed at the following link: www.openpianocompetition/2012/competitors

Now it is time for the competitors to start arranging their travel arrangements to London, accommodation (we will be sending accommodation suggestions via email to the competitors at a later date), and not least, to begin compiling their programmes for the first round. We at the OPC are hard at work finalising the second and final round venues, and a plethora of other tasks yet to be completed.

As always, please keep an eye on our website for further news and updates. For now, another congratulations to our competitors. We very much look forward to meeting you all in October.
